Book Lovers, Darker:

Fifty Shades Darker (EL James)-

This is the second book to the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy, picking up right where the first book left off.  Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey have many differences that keep them apart, but the electric energy in their relationship (and Jose’s photography show) brings them back together.  And once again, we are caught up in their whirlwind romance.

Fifty Shades Darker introduces many new and dark characters. There is Jack, Ana’s boss, who is yet another man who falls for Ana.  The more Ana works, the creepier Jack becomes…no wonder Christian has this irrational overprotecting quality to him…  Then there is Elana Robinson, or to Ana: Mrs. Robinson.  Elena is the women who corrupted Grey in his teenage years, who Grey says changed him for the better, keeping him from ending up in jail. She becomes the person that Ana hates.  And then there is Leila, she is from Christians past who has had a psychological break…

Christian and Ana do face some challenges in their relationship, but they’re destined for each other, they both want a permanent future spent with each other.

So much happens in Fifty Shades Darker.  We learn about Christians past.  Strange things happen with the new characters; Jack makes advances on Ana (inappropriate ones I might add), Leila breaks into Ana’s apartment, and Mrs. Robinson still has feelings for Christian!

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.  My rating: R

Fifty Shades of Grey (EL James)-

Fifty Shades of Grey takes place in Washington State.  Two main characters being: Christian Grey, the mysterious, young billionaire and Anastasia Steele, the smart college graduate.  Ana (what she prefers to be called) meets Christian Grey at Grey House, which is home to Christian’s business: Grey Enterprises, in Seattle, Washington.  Ana is there in place of her roommate, who was meant to interview Mr. Grey for the college newspaper, but has become sick.  Ana, who is shocked by Mr. Grey’s dreamy presence, trips her way into his office, making quite the scene.  She takes out her roommate’s descriptive and personal questions made for Mr. Grey to answer.

They next meet at the hardware store where Ana works.  Grey stocks up on masking tape, cable ties, and rope.  Ana jokes, “you’re the complete serial killer.”  Grey gives Ana his phone number and tells her to call him, saying he can do pictures for the school newspaper.

Ana and her roommate meet Mr. Grey at the hotel suit he’s staying at to take photos of him for the college paper.  Once they’re finished Mr. Grey insists that Ana go to breakfast with him, which she does.  They have a few more encounters before he invites her to his home. Christian Grey’s home contains a mysterious Red Room, where Grey expresses himself as a dominate, where he is in control of his “submissive.”  Grey and Ana have some erotic encounters; Grey being Ana’s first.

The book continues with Grey and Ana’s relationship and ends in a twist, something you would not see coming.  But, I’m not going to give that away so if you want to know you’ll have to read to find out!

I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  My rating: R
