DIY – St. Patty’s Day Style

St Patrick’s Day is coming up so here’s a minty drink for a lucky day!  I’ll provide you with a homemade version of the popular: Shamrock Shake.  Lucky Charm marshmallows are added to give it a beautiful rainbow look!

I got this idea from: Brooke MClay who is a professional recipe developer, food photographer and food writer (

Follow the lovely rainbow (my directions) and maybe you will find the lucky pot of gold (finished product) at the end!

  • 2 cups – vanilla ice cream
  • Green Sprinkles (you can use as much as you need)
  • Honey (you can use as much as you need)
  • Lucky Charms (marshmallows only)
  • 1/4 TSP – mint extract
  • 3 squirts – green food coloring
  • Whipped Cream
  • Paper Straws

Use the honey and green sugar to rim the jars.  Set aside for later use.  Pick the marshmallows out of the lucky charms, the cereal will be of no use in this.  Set aside for topping at the end.  Use a blender to puree vanilla ice cream, milk, mint extract, and green food coloring.  Pour blended product into your honey & sugar rimmed jars.  Use the whipped cream to top the shake.  Now add the Lucky Charm marshmallows to top the green, shamrock shake off.  Serve and enjoy with family and friends (or just yourself!) 🙂

Step One:  The Ingredients

Lucky Charms Cereal, Vanilla Ice Cream, Mint Extract, Green Food Coloring, Green Sprinkles, Honey, Whipped Cream & Paper Straws

Step Two:  Separate the Charms

You will need lucky charms, the important part being the marshmallow charms.  So, pick out all the colorful marshmallow pieces, which is something you’ve probably always wanted to do so have fun with it…But don’t get the urge to eat them, you need them!!

Step Three:  Honey & Sprinkles & Cute Jars

Squirt the honey onto a plate, rim the top of your jar with the honey (sticky I know!)  Pour some of the green sprinkles into a bowl.  Then place the top of your sticky honey jar into the sprinkles, adding a pop of a beautiful green color to your dessert.

Step Five:  Mix & Blend

Puree the vanilla ice cream, milk, mint extract, and the green food coloring in a blender.  I used about 2 cups of the vanilla ice cream, 1/3 cup of the milk, 1/4 TSP of the mint extract and three squirts of the green food coloring.  The mint extract depends on your liking of mint, if you like mint you can add more, if you don’t like it as much you don’t have to add as much.

Step Six:  Top & Finish

Use the whipped cream and the colorful lucky charm marshmallows to top off the drink and then you’re ready to enjoy this lovely drink with your family and friends!

Luck of the Irish to ya!

Book Lovers:

Fifty Shades of Grey (EL James)-

Fifty Shades of Grey takes place in Washington State.  Two main characters being: Christian Grey, the mysterious, young billionaire and Anastasia Steele, the smart college graduate.  Ana (what she prefers to be called) meets Christian Grey at Grey House, which is home to Christian’s business: Grey Enterprises, in Seattle, Washington.  Ana is there in place of her roommate, who was meant to interview Mr. Grey for the college newspaper, but has become sick.  Ana, who is shocked by Mr. Grey’s dreamy presence, trips her way into his office, making quite the scene.  She takes out her roommate’s descriptive and personal questions made for Mr. Grey to answer.

They next meet at the hardware store where Ana works.  Grey stocks up on masking tape, cable ties, and rope.  Ana jokes, “you’re the complete serial killer.”  Grey gives Ana his phone number and tells her to call him, saying he can do pictures for the school newspaper.

Ana and her roommate meet Mr. Grey at the hotel suit he’s staying at to take photos of him for the college paper.  Once they’re finished Mr. Grey insists that Ana go to breakfast with him, which she does.  They have a few more encounters before he invites her to his home. Christian Grey’s home contains a mysterious Red Room, where Grey expresses himself as a dominate, where he is in control of his “submissive.”  Grey and Ana have some erotic encounters; Grey being Ana’s first.

The book continues with Grey and Ana’s relationship and ends in a twist, something you would not see coming.  But, I’m not going to give that away so if you want to know you’ll have to read to find out!

I give this book a 4.5 out of 5 stars.  My rating: R

Movie Lovers:

The Duff (2015)-

The Duff features Mae Whitman as the lead role: Bianca Piper (B).  Bianca is an average teen: quirky, smart and funny who is loving her senior year.  Her best friends, Jess (Skyler Samuels) and Casey (Bianca Santos), are considerably more popular than Bianca is.  Her neighbor, Wes (Robbie Amell) is the stereotypical high school jock, the star football player and the guy every girl is crushing on.  Then there’s your average mean girl, Madison Morgan (Bella Thorne) who hosts a party.  Bianca and her best friends go to Madison’s party where Bianca is informed, by Wes, that she is a DUFF.  A DUFF is the “Designated Ugly Fat Friend.”  This information cause Bianca to unfriend her best friends, in real life and on all social media.  The she begins to realize that she wants to change, show the school she is proud to be the DUFF.  So, she goes to Wes who helps her pick out “styling” clothes and help her gain the confidence to talk to guys.  And in the end Bianca re-friends her friends (even on social media), she gains confidence and she wins the hunk…you’ll have to see the movie to find out which hunk is hers 🙂

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.  My rating: PG

Let’s Get Crafting!

Hello!  I thought it would be time for me to start showing you some of my easy DIY projects.  The first project I’m going to show you is something you can make for your friends, your family or even yourself!  I made this for my friend’s birthday because she is obsessed with Disney and this is a Disney based project, so if you love Disney this is for you.

You do not have to be artistically superior, you can, in fact, be quite the opposite to be able to do this!  As Walt Disney once said, If you can dream it, you can do it!”

What you will need:

  • Paint brushes – I used a large brush, a medium-sized brush and a tiny brush
  • Paint – you can use whatever colors you would like, I used a periwinkle & black
  • Canvas – any size

  1. I like to sketch what I’m trying to make before I start painting – so you can sketch it firstFullSizeRender-4
  2. Paint the background the color of your choice (in my case – periwinkle) — using the large paint brushFullSizeRender
  3. If you used step 1, cut out your sketch, place it on your painted canvas and trace lightly with a pencil
  4. Paint on the Disney castle and name (or any other design you used) — using the medium paint brushFullSizeRender-3
  5. You can stop now, or you can continue, using the small paint brush to make the edges of your design neat & clean
  6. You’re finished! You have now created a Disney master piece that Walt Disney, himself, would be proud of!!FullSizeRender-2

Hello world, welcome to my “do it yourself, lifestyle” blog!  If you’re reading this this early in the morning I hope that you have a lovely mug full of warm coffee in your hand &  I hope that  you’re smelling that lovely aroma of coffee & hazelnut creamer filling throughout your room.

Speaking of coffee, I will start off saying: you can really tell a lot from a person based on the warm drink they have in hand.  The drink I have in my hand is a large donut house (k-cup brand) coffee that has a considerably large amount of hazelnut creamer mixed within it… I guess I could call it a large mug of creamer, with a side of donut house coffee (or a grande vanilla latte from starbucks)!

Anyways, my name is Brittany Lower & if you couldn’t already tell I’m addicted to coffee, but thats definitely not all I will be telling you throughout my blog.  I will provide you with DIY projects to do when you are stuck at home or just feeling super crafty!  I will give you fashion tips and provide you with many different fashion styles, because lets be honest clothes are clothes, you can never go wrong!  And last, but certainly not least, I will provide you with reviews of my favorite books & must-see movies.

My blog will be for the days at home when you’re feeling crafty or bored and have nothing to do.  So, grab yourself a mug full of coffee (in my case a mug full of creamer with a side of coffee) & stay tuned! 🙂
